Spec-Driven Development with Kiro
A two-day, instructor-led course on agentic development with Kiro, the agentic IDE for software development. Participants plan and implement features and bug fixes using Feature Specs and Bugfix Specs. They control the agent with steering files and execution modes, and extend it with MCP servers, Kiro Powers, agent hooks, agent skills and custom subagents. Hands-on labs are interleaved with the modules: on day 1 participants build a weather application, and on day 2 they deploy, extend and team-enable a pre-built micro-blogging application.

- Introduction to agentic development with Kiro – Kiro IDE and Kiro CLI, Vibe and Spec sessions, model selection
- Spec-driven development with Feature Specs – requirements, design, tasks, EARS notation, property-based testing
- Steering, context and agent control – steering files, context providers, execution modes, trusted commands
- Bugfix Specs – bug analysis, root cause analysis, regression prevention
- Day 1 lab: Kiro spec-driven development foundations
- MCP servers and tool integration – architecture, configuration, tool management, troubleshooting
- Kiro Powers – structure, installation, authoring and sharing custom Powers
- Agent hooks, agent skills and custom subagents
- Team collaboration and enterprise governance – .kiro directory, spec review conventions, enterprise governance
- Day 2 lab: extending and automating with Kiro
